Finding Dave's 1st Deer

As told by Mary Ringer...

Tony, Fred, Dave, Ray and Harold Field were hunting by the lake.  Tony chased a deer by Dave.  Dave shot twice and hit it on the second shot.  The deer kept running.  They looked all morning for the deer and after hours Dave went home with his head in his hand.  They went back in the afternoon.  Tony found the deer, dragged it out and asked Dave "is this what you were looking for?"  Dave was very excited.  Dave thought Tony was as excited as he was for finding the deer.

Our Only Carmi Adventure

As told by Mary Ringer...

[some text was replaced with less inappropriate wording, but those who knew Tony shouldn't have any problem using their imagination to fill in the actual words]

One day Dave and I decided to go try Lake Carmi.  It was a nice July day on a Monday.  We arrived at the boat launch, loaded up and headed out.  We trolled for about 1 1/2 hrs and didn't get a bite so I decided to call Tony.  I knew he was at work and I had his number memorized.  He answered the call and asked "where the hell are you?".  I told he we were on Carmi.  He said you "[fluffing buggers], why the hell aren't you at work?"  After much bashing and laughing, he told us many ideas and areas to try.  He wished us good luck and we went back to fishing.  Within 20 minutes of hanging up with Tony, a dark cloud rolled in from Canada and the temperature went from 70 to 35.  It felt like it was going to snow any minute.  I was convinced Tony had put a hex on us for fishing on Carmi.

The Deer with Pierced Ears

As told by Mary Ringer...

Several people including Tony went hunting.  The person who had already got a deer, "no more tags", wore sneakers and used a 410 shot gun to be sure he didn't get a deer.  They walked from Plank Road to Route 7.  The sneaker boy sent Tony in the woods so he would be the one to see the deer.  But that wasn't how it worked.  The buck, 6 pointer, ran into sneaker boy and stopped.  The shot gun was used, 4 slugs and down to the bird shot to finish off the deer.  Sneaker boy paced for an hour before Tony met up with him.  Tony gave sneaker boy the Tony grin.  Tony tagged the deer.  When taken to the weigh in, many people commented on the holes in the deer's ears.  The deer won the deer pool prize at work.
